The Ambassador of Mauritania asks the Sheikh of Al-Azhar to increase scholarships allocated to Mauritanians to study at Al-Azhar University

The Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, received today, Thursday, at the Al-Azhar Sheikh, Al-Hussein Sidi Abdullah Al-Diya, Mauritanian Ambassador to Cairo, to discuss ways to enhance Al-Azhar’s support for the people of Mauritania.

The Grand Imam stressed the depth of the relations between Al-Azhar and Mauritania, pointing to Mauritania’s role in spreading Arab culture and sciences, stressing that Al-Azhar does not hesitate to provide all aspects of support to the Mauritanian people, noting that Al-Azhar hosts hundreds of Mauritanian students who study in Various educational levels, from kindergarten to postgraduate studies, and Al-Azhar also allocates 35 annual scholarships to the children of Mauritania to attend Al-Azhar University.

 

For his part, the Mauritanian ambassador expressed his happiness at meeting the Sheikh of Al-Azhar. And his appreciation for the role of His Eminence in supporting the Mauritanian people, he also asked His Eminence to increase the number of scholarships that Al-Azhar allocates to the children of Mauritania to attend Al-Azhar University, especially in the applied colleges. Such as medicine, pharmacy, and science, in a way that suits societal challenges and meets the urgent needs of Mauritanian society.
