The Governor of Cairo, Dr. Ibrahim Saber, reviewed the governorate’s experience in eliminating slum areas in Cairo and the Egyptian state’s efforts to get rid of slum areas, develop them, transfer their residents to fully furnished, civilized housing units, and reuse the lands to create green spaces.
This came during the participation of Cairo Governor, Dr. Ibrahim Saber, in the participatory session held today, Tuesday, as part of the activities of the second day of the World Urban Forum, under the title “Celebrating the initiative to revive public space in order to influence the World Urban Forum.” In the presence of Engineer Khaled Siddiq, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Urban Development Fund, and a number of mayors of cities from some of the countries participating in the forum, the spaces that were implemented in Asmarat and the importance of public spaces for citizens and their social and economic role were discussed. Benefiting from the experiences of different cities among them was also discussed.

He added that the governorate created public spaces in some areas, such as Al-Jabkhana in ancient Egypt, and Al-Asmarat, with the aim of creating spaces for the residents of those areas to practice useful activities to create a sustainable impact that contributes to Creating a cultural, social, and recreational life in the place, taking into account security and safety standards.
