Search operations and encounters have been taking place in multiple districts of the Union territory on Saturday.
Encounter in Srinagar
An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists on Saturday in the Khanyar locality of Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital here, officials said. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Khanyar area of the city on Saturday morning following inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area, the officials added.
They said the search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired upon a search party of the forces, who retaliated.
The exchange of firing is going on, but so far there are no reports of any casualty on either side, they further added.
Encounter in Bandipora
Security forces and terrorists engaged in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district, officials stated on Saturday.
According to a post on X by the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps, the incident took place on the evening of November 1, 2024. Suspicious movement was detected in the Panar area of Bandipora. When challenged, terrorists fired at security personnel and then fled into the nearby jungle.The Army confirmed in their post, “On being challenged, terrorists opened indiscriminate fire and escaped into the jungle.” A search operation is currently ongoing in the area.
