Health examines 3.99 million primary students with an initiative for early detection of “anaemia, obesity and dwarfism”
The Ministry of Health and Population announced that 3 million, 994 thousand, and 38 students in various schools in the Republic have been examined, as part of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s initiative, for early detection of diseases (anemia, obesity, and dwarfism) among primary school students, since the launch of the current academic year on September 29, 2024. To this day, this comes within the framework of the state’s concern for the health and safety of students.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the initiative aims to examine students in the primary stage of Egyptians and non-Egyptians residing in Egypt, indicating that the initiative continues to work throughout the academic year In all governorates of the Republic.
Abdul Ghaffar added: The initiative’s services include conducting medical examinations for students and measuring weight, height, and hemoglobin levels in the blood, to detect malnutrition diseases, and developing the necessary mechanisms to improve students’ health, in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Technical Education. For his part, Dr. Muhammad Dhahi, Chairman of the General Authority for Health Insurance, said that cases infected with any of these diseases included in the initiative are referred to health insurance clinics, to complete the necessary examinations and dispense treatment for free, and these students are also given a “follow-up card.” It contains their private data, in order to follow up on them periodically and constantly check on their health condition through health insurance clinics in all governorates of the Republic.
Dr. Tamer Samir, coordinator of the presidential initiative, indicated that the number of medical teams participating in the initiative reached 2,000 teams, They were trained on examination and diagnostic protocols, and they were trained on infection control standards.
Samir confirmed: All the tasks of the initiative are carried out while taking all precautionary and preventive measures, indicating that the survey is carried out throughout the year to prevent crowding among students, and the health education teams in the governorates provide awareness to students on how to adhere to the precautionary measures to preserve their health, pointing to the allocation of a hotline " 106" To respond to citizens’ inquiries regarding the initiative.
