The head of the Evangelical community meets a delegation from the Foundation "Langham" At the Faculty of Theology in Abbasiya

 Dr. Reverend Andre Zaki, head of the Evangelical community in Egypt, participated today, Monday, in a meeting hosted by the Evangelical Theological College in Abbasiya, in the presence of a delegation from the “Langham” Foundation. From the United Kingdom, led by Reverend John Libby, President of the Foundation, and Dr. Hani Hanna, Director of the Writing and Publishing Program at the Foundation, in the presence of Dr. Reverend Samuel Rizvi, Dean of the College, and Dr. Reverend Atef Mohani, Director of the Center for Middle Eastern Christian Studies at the College.

< p>The Rev. Dr. Andre Zaki gave a lecture entitled “Christianity in the Middle East and the Current Religious Climate,” in which he addressed the most prominent current issues related to Christianity in the Middle East, noting that the leadership of the Evangelical community in Egypt consists of 19 Evangelical denominations and 1,500 local churches, which makes it The second largest church in Egypt and the Arab world after the Coptic Orthodox Church.

 

He also gave a presentation on the importance of the activity of the Coptic Evangelical Organization for Social Services, stressing its effective role in providing support and assistance to those in need and promoting Social work in society, which contributes to improving the lives of many and building a cohesive society.

 

The head of the Evangelical community welcomed the participants from the United Kingdom, expressing his great happiness with the visit, and said: " “The Evangelical churches in Egypt are national churches that contribute their expertise through their institutions to supporting issues of development, awareness, dialogue and peace building, and their churches pray for our dear country and all Egyptians.”

 

The head of the sect stressed during His dialogue on the role played by Egypt in the Arab region and Islamic-Christian relations and their development.

 

The meeting concluded with a question and answer session in which the audience interacted with the head of the Evangelical community and members of the Langham delegation. For their part, the participants expressed their happiness at visiting Egypt and meeting with the head of the Evangelical community, in addition to monitoring the development and change that occurred in Egypt.

 

The “Langham” Foundation is the One of the international institutions founded by Dr. John Stott with the aim of supporting theological education, developing churches, and promoting theological education around the world.
