Under the generous patronage of His Eminence the Grand Imam, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, the first meeting of the ten recitations was launched today at the Al-Azhar Mosque. This event was devoted to reviewing the ten recitations, with a focus on the recitation of Imam Nafi’ Barawiyah, Imam Qaloun and Imam Warsh, because of their importance. It is of great importance in the sciences of the Holy Qur’an and recitations.
The forum began by introducing Imam Nafi’ and reviewing his doctrine of recitation and the extent of its influence on other recitations, as Imam Nafi’ is considered one of the imams who played a major role in The Holy Qur’an was transmitted, and the biography of both Imam Qalun and Imam Warsh was discussed, with a focus on their doctrines of reading. It also included recitations from Surat Al-Fatihah up to verse 43 of Surat Al-Baqarah and discussions about the differences between the recitations.

In a special statement to him, Dr. Abdel Moneim Fouad, General Supervisor of the Halls, confirmed that this forum comes within the framework of Al-Azhar’s efforts to spread the sciences of the Holy Qur’an and teach different recitations. He added: “The recitation of Imam Nafi’ is distinguished by its beauty and accuracy, and we strive to Through this forum, we aim to enhance the correct understanding of the Qur’an and develop the participants’ reading skills, stressing the importance of preserving this great heritage and passing it on to future generations.
For his part, Dr. Akad expressed Hani Odeh, Director General of Al-Azhar Mosque, expressed his happiness at the launch of this forum, pointing out the importance of multiple readings in enriching religious understanding. He said: “The forum aims to enhance understanding of Qur’anic readings, facilitate their study for students and researchers, and enhance communication between readers and those interested in the science of Tajweed and readings. We must strengthen the culture of interest in the various Quranic schools.”
He continued: The launch of this forum is considered an important step towards enhancing a deep understanding of the Holy Qur’an and its sciences, and it also represents a real opportunity. To exchange knowledge and Quranic sciences, and to reflect the ongoing efforts of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in promoting and developing Islamic culture, the activities are scheduled to continue over the coming days, as forums and lectures will be held that shed light on various aspects of the different recitations and their impact in the field of Qur’anic sciences and recitations.
