Liam Payne‘s girlfriend Kate Cassidy has shared a heart-wrenching note the singer wrote to her just weeks before his tragic passing.
After initially releasing a statement asking the public for space following Payne’s death, Cassidy has shared a tribute to her boyfriend of two years on Instagram, along with a series of photos of the couple together. Amongst the pics, is a handwritten note the 31-year-old wrote to her weeks before he passed away.
“Me and Kate to marry within a year / engaged and together forever,” the note read, along with the angel number 444 which means that you are protected and watched over by your angels or loved ones.
In her poignant statement, Cassidy shared how she was struggling to imagine life without Payne.
“I don’t even know where to begin. My heart is shattered in ways I can’t put into words,” she wrote.
“I wish you could see the huge impact you’ve had on the world, even as it feels so dark right now. You brought so much happiness and positivity to everyone — millions of fans, your family, friends and especially me. You are so incredibly loved.
“You are — because I can’t say were — my best friend, the love of my life and everyone you touched felt just as special as I did. Your energy was contagious, lighting up every room you walked into.
“None of this feels real, and I can’t wrap my head around this new reality of not having you here. I’m struggling to figure out how to live in a world without you by my side.”
In the statement, Cassidy reflected on a moment when the couple sat together, planning and manifesting their future.
“A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together,” she said.
“I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it. Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel.
“I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me everywhere I go.”
She signed off the beautiful letter with “forever yours, Katelyn”.
Cassidy and Payne first met in a bar in South Carolina back in 2022. They had only just moved in together in Miami, Florida this year.
In September, the couple went to Argentina to see Payne’s former bandmate Niall Horan play a show in Buenos Aries. While they originally planned on staying for five days, they ended up extending their trip.
Cassidy returned back to Florida after two weeks while Payne decided to stay. Tragically, two days later, Payne died after falling off a balcony at the Casa Sur hotel in Palermo.
According to preliminary autopsy reports, Payne was in a state of “semi or total unconsciousness” at the time of his fall and had multiple drugs in his system. However, the Argentinian prosecutor’s office confirmed that his cause of death was trauma sustained from the fall.
Since his passing, friends, family, fans and his One Direction bandmates have shared touching tributes to the late singer.
Rest easy, Liam.
