Cleveland Browns coach makes quarterback decision after Deshaun Watson’s season-ending injury
Jameis Winston will start for the depleted Browns against the Ravens on Sunday following Deshaun Watson’s season-ending injury.
Quarterback Watson had to be carted off the field during last week’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Cleveland later confirmed that he had ruptured his right Achilles and, on Wednesday, head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that Winston will replace Wilson.
The 30-year-old was third in the Browns pecking order before both Watson and Dorian Thompson-Robinson were hurt against the Bengals.
Thompson-Robinson injured his finger on his throwing hand after replacing Watson during Sunday’s 21-14 loss.

Stefanski insisted he would not decide on his starter until he had a clearer picture of Thompson-Robinson’s prospects.
But on Wednesday, the head coach confirmed that Winston would be under center against Baltimore.
The 30-year-old is a former Heisman Trophy winner who was selected with the first overall pick in the 2015 draft.
Winston has started 80 NFL games since being drafted by the Buccaneers and, on Sunday, the quarterback said he was ‘prepared for whatever’ the 1-6 Browns decided.
‘That has been the story of my career the last few years,’ he said. ‘I’m ready and prepared for whatever role it is I am to play. I’m here to serve.’
