Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi, Chairman of the Egyptian Medicines Authority, received today Dr. Tariq Al-Houbi, Chairman of the Food Safety Authority, in a meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two authorities to ensure the safety of medicines and food in Egypt. The meeting was attended by a number of prominent officials from both sides, where many important issues were discussed that enhance control efforts and ensure the safety of traded products.
During the meeting, it was agreed to complete the work of the Joint Scientific Committee on the third white list, It should be implemented officially, and the importance of finalizing the reconciliation mechanism was emphasized, especially with regard to preparations that contain concentrations of active ingredients that exceed or are less than the limits set in the agreed upon lists. It was agreed to transfer the registration of these preparations between the Egyptian Medicines Authority and the National Authority. For food safety, ensuring compliance with health standards.
In this context, Dr. Ali Al-Ghamrawi pointed out the importance of the role of the Egyptian Medicines Authority in confronting drug fraud operations, through effective and sustainable monitoring.
For his part, Dr. Tariq Al-Houbi praised the efforts of the Food Safety Authority in inspecting pharmaceutical factories, which enhances the safety of medicines traded in Egyptian markets, stressing the importance of the Food Safety Authority’s supervisory role in the food and agricultural industries sector to ensure healthy and safe food, which enhances confidence.
