The Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity heads the ministry’s delegation participating in an exhibition "Earn people of determination" International Dubai 2024

“Sarofim” She participates in the opening session of the Knowledge Center’s work within the exhibition’s activities, and presents the Egyptian experience in supporting people with disabilities.

Engineer Margaret Sarofim, Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity, headed the delegation of the Ministry of Social Solidarity participating in the “Exhibition” “Earn the people of determination” Dubai International 2024, whose activities were launched in Dubai in its sixth edition under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Supreme President and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group.

The delegation of the Ministry of Social Solidarity included Professor Rami Abbas, Consultant  The Minister of Solidarity for Relations, Protocol and Exhibition Organizing, Dr. Ahmed Saada, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity and Executive Director of the Civil Work Support Fund, and Ms. Marwa Ahmed Abdel Lah, Director General of the General Administration of Support and Empowerment.

The Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity expressed in her speech at the session The opening of the work of the Knowledge Center held within the activities of the exhibition, in the presence of Sheikha Maryam bint Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Maktoum, His Excellency Abdullah Al Humaidan, Secretary General of the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination, and a wide number of experts, specialists and civil society organizations, expressing their happiness to participate in this important event. The “International Expo for People of Determination” exhibition became An important event and a vital platform that supports positive change, enhances the role of people with disabilities in society, and showcases innovations and initiatives that contribute to improving the quality of their lives, stressing the importance of cooperation and interaction among everyone to build a more just and solidarity society.  

She added Sarofim said that the world is witnessing an increasing interest in technology to serve people with disabilities. Where innovative solutions are developed that aim to improve their quality of life and enhance their independence, through assistive technology tools, smart applications, the effective use of artificial intelligence, and other mechanisms that will improve their living conditions. The International Expo for People of Determination is the largest exhibition of its kind in the Middle East. To provide a wide choice of technologies, innovations, and services capable of serving people with disabilities.  

The Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity confirmed that the Egyptian state has witnessed, in the last decade, important steps towards empowering people with disabilities, under supportive political leadership. To them, the Egyptian state is committed to guaranteeing the rights of persons with disabilities and providing support and services to them in accordance with Egyptian law, and working to raise awareness in all sectors of Egyptian society about the rights of persons with disabilities. In this context, the President of the Republic designated the year 2018 as the Year of Disability, and is keen to attend annually. The “Capable with a Difference” celebration, in addition to the issuance of the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and through the umbrella of social protection, the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity, through the “Karama” program, provides In support of people with disabilities, 1.2 million people benefit from it annually, at a total cost of 10 billion pounds annually.  (1,207,604) cards proving disability and integrated services through (234) social rehabilitation offices across the Republic spread across (27) governorates, in addition to the integrated services cards issued from the “Karama” database. And the mechanized medical commission for equipped cars, and in the field of expanding availability, and in partnership with the Ministry of Transport and Communications, 14 railway stations and 35 metro stations were made available to facilitate transportation and transport of people with disabilities, in accordance with the requirements of the accessibility code, with a contribution of 78 million pounds from Social Solidarity. &nbsp

It also launched the "We will deliver to you" campaign. In partnership with the “Life Makers” Foundation And the “Egyptian Red Crescent” To facilitate the issuance of integrated services cards in 22 governorates, and the “Ahsan Sahib” initiative To integrate people with disabilities into society in 24 governorates, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Alliance for Civil Development Action, with the participation of 10,000 volunteers from life makers. A rehabilitation body that provides many services such as physical therapy, speech therapy, comprehensive rehabilitation, residential accommodation, and other services, and providing aids and prosthetic devices for people with disabilities.   

In the axis of education and empowerment of persons with disabilities; The Ministry of Social Solidarity provided scholarships for male and female students with visual disabilities at the level of 19 universities. It also supported deaf and hard-of-hearing students at Egyptian public universities in 13 universities, by providing sign language interpreters at universities and providing assistive technology means for students with visual disabilities at public universities, with 2,000 talking laptops. Students, scholarships disbursed annually to male and female students with visual disabilities at public universities, and paying tuition fees for people with disabilities at a financial cost of 8.5 million pounds, as well as interest in raising awareness of the rights and issues of people with disabilities, and training and empowering people with disabilities in the labor market out of belief and based on investment in people, while raising Institutional capabilities of those working with them. And mobility aids for all eligible persons with disabilities.
