Charli xcx Reveals Featured Artists For ‘Brat’ Remix Album

After days of seeing neon billboards being set up on social media to the point where I now dream in brat-green (not mad about it), Charli xcx has confirmed which artists will feature on her much-anticipated remix album.

ICYMI, our algorithms have been collectively overrun with footage of billboards being erected in various cities and countries, emblazoned with the names of high-profile musicians and styled in the vein of the legendary cover of Charli’s latest album, brat.

With the remix version of that album just around the corner, fans took their sightings of these billboards as announcements of which artists Charli would enlist for the upcoming project.

Spotting these billboards became something of a mission for fans, who likely carried speedo sunnies and a pack of durries (the brat girl starter pack) as they snapped shots of green billboards in Pennsylvania, Florida, Connecticut, and Louisiana, among other cities.

Closer to home, rumours of Charli potentially headlining Laneway were fuelled after a brat-themed billboard was spotted in Sydney, with the festival’s name written in that now-iconic Arial font — which probably wasn’t even in my top three favourite fonts until brat rolled around.

While fans couldn’t quite decipher which of the billboards were the real deal (curse you, AI!), Charli has since confirmed exactly who will feature on the remix album, which arrives on October 11 and is hilariously titled Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat.

Taking to social media on Friday, the pop star dumped a bunch of pics of the billboards and needless to say, some of the names confirmed for the remix album comprise my dream blunt rotation.

The biggest names revealed include soon-to-be Glinda and Spongebob’s girlfriend Ariana Grande (!), “Nasty” singer Tinashe (double !) and pop rock band The 1975.

Granted, I probably wouldn’t count The 1975 frontman Matty Healy in my blunt rotation (for a few reasons), but Charli is engaged to the band’s drummer, George Daniel, so call it a case of workplace favouritism.

Also confirmed for the remix album is Caroline Polachek (triple !), Bon Iver, Bb trickz, The Japanese House, Shygirl, Julian Casablancas, Bladee and Jon Hopkins. All of that just in time for an actual brat summer in the southern hemisphere? Charli keeps us fed.

Charli’s post also included photos of the billboards with the names of Troye Sivan, Billie Eilish, A.G. Cook, Addison Rae, Yung Lean, Robyn, and Lorde, who featured on the already released remixes of “Talk Talk”, “Guess”, “Von dutch” and “Girl, so confusing”, respectively.

Unfortunately, Charli’s reveal seems to confirm that those widely-circulated images of Chappell Roan and Taylor Swift billboards were probably fake, no matter how complementary Swift was amid rumours of a supposed feud, or how desperately fans wanted Swift on the tracklist.

It’s not yet known which exact songs from brat the new artists will appear on, but maybe Charli will enlist some poor billboard-hanger to redo all of them with those details soon.
