World Health Organization gives the green light to the first test to diagnose the monkeypox virus

The World Health Organization has given the green light to the first test to diagnose the monkeypox virus.

The organization confirmed, in a statement, as reported by France Info radio, French, on Friday – that “early diagnosis of the monkeypox virus allows rapid treatment and care, as well as control of the virus,” while the virus has already caused the death of nearly 900 people in Africa since the beginning of the year.

The statement indicated that including the test on the emergency use list means that the World Health Organization allows other United Nations agencies to distribute it, and this also represents a guarantee from it to the health authorities in the affected countries of its effectiveness, which helps in Accelerating its spread.

The World Health Organization explains, “The capabilities to detect infection are limited in Africa, and the delay in confirming smallpox infection continues, which contributes to the continued spread of the virus.” ;.

It is noteworthy that in 2024, more than 30,000 suspected cases of infection with the virus were reported in Africa, with the highest cases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, and Nigeria.
