Walmart’s revamped new checkout procedures leaves shoppers ‘in tears’

Frustrated Walmart customers have taken to social media to share their annoyances as the retail superstore continues to disappoint.

Walmart has implemented frustrating new rules to its self-checkout experience, prompting a wave of shoppers to take to social media to air their grievances.

Jessica Dooly revealed she ‘nearly cried’ due to her immense frustration during a recent check-out experience.

‘I had an overflowing buggy and nearly cried when they asked me to use the cashier line,’ she shared on Facebook.

Customers like Dooly have relied on the availability of the self-service checkout, often times looking for a more peaceful shopping trip rather than having to make unwanted small talk at the cashier’s kiosk.

The new rules come after Walmart has raised concern over increased shoplifting causing the superstore to cut back on its self-checkout kiosks

‘I hate small talk THAT much!!!’ Dooly’s post continued, ‘I love self-checkout. Thankfully my cashier was friendly [and] didn’t small talk.’

Under the new rules many Walmart locations reserve self-checkout machines for Walmart+ subscribers leaving shoppers who don’t pay for the membership to default to the cashier lines.

In addition to a fewer number of available self-checkout machines, the popular superstore has begun enforcing a limit on the number of items shoppers can scan at the self-checkout kiosks.

Stores with the item restriction allow shoppers only 15 items or less to use the self-checkout kiosks, with some locations scaling back to a measly ten or fewer items.

But self-checkout woes are not the only turn-off plaguing Walmart’s customers.

Another angry shopper left his full cart at the checkout counter after realizing the retailer does not carry his preferred payment method.

Apple Pay, a means of digital payment accepted in over 85 percent of retailers in the U.S., is not an accepted form of payment at Walmart.

Instead the retail giant enforces something similar to Apple Pay, Walmart Pay – which can be accessed only within the Walmart app.

‘How tf Walmart don’t have Apple Pay?’ the frustrated shopper wrote on Facebook, adding, ‘I left the cart there like that’s y’all problem.’

‘It’s stupid they have Walmart Pay though the same as Apple Pay, but you have to set it up [on their app]’ another Facebook user commented.

‘What’s the point of Walmart pay if it never works?’ another bitter user said on ‘X’, formerly Twitter.

Walmart’s CEO Doug McMillon shared the reason why the chain has yet to implement Apple’s tap-to-pay method:

‘We would like to have the customers open our app in the store all the time,’ McMillion stated, further sharing that he viewed Apple Pay as a competitor.
