Brave New World’ Adds Composer Laura Karpman

Laura Karpman will compose the score for Marvel’s “Captain America: Brave New World.“

Karpman is no stranger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having scored the music to the Disney+ series, “What If…?” and “The Marvels.”

The fourth Captain America film stars Anthony Mackie as flying superhero Sam Wilson, formerly known as Cap’s sidekick the Falcon. Mackie takes the mantle over from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, who starred in the previous three “Captain America” movies and the four “Avengers” movies.

This time around, Sam is greeted by Harrison Ford’s U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who wants to make Captain America a U.S. agent. The action heats up quickly as the superhero stops a would-be assassin at the White House. As previously confirmed, Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross will indeed, be transforming into the Red Hulk in the film.

The film set to be released in 2025, is directed by Julius Onah and produced by Kevin Feige and Nate Moore. Louis D’Esposito and Charles Newirth serve as executive producers.

Said Karpman, “I am beyond thrilled to collaborate with Marvel Studios again on ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’  I love everything about Sam Wilson; his grit, his intelligence, his guts and his charisma, and it is my honor to support this phenomenal film with an intriguing and powerful underscore.”

Karpman, who has an all-female studio, has several projects in the pipeline including multiple projects for Marvel (among them, Season 3 of “What If?” and the Apple Vision Pro Marvel experience), “Justice” (the upcoming Doug Liman documentary about Brett Kavanaugh), a musical based on Dorothy Arzner’s classic MGM film “Dance Girl Dance,” two unannounced video game projects and one additional unannounced TV series.

As the Alliance of Women Film Composers founder, Karpman is a strong advocate for diversity and equity in Hollywood. As the first female music-branch governor in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, Karpman implemented sweeping changes on the diversity, equity and inclusion front and was largely responsible for the admission of dozens of previously underrepresented voices.

Karpman is repped by UTA.
