China hopes social stability will be restored in Bangladesh soon, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said Tuesday.
“China is closely following the developments in Bangladesh,” the spokesman said, commenting on the resignation of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
As a friendly neighbor and comprehensive strategic cooperative partner of Bangladesh, China sincerely hopes that social stability will be restored in the country soon, according to China’s Xinhua News Agency. Bangladesh’s prime minister resigned on Tuesday and fled to India after weeks of bloody protests across the country led by university students. Bangladeshi President Mohammad Shahabuddin announced the dissolution of parliament on Tuesday.
