The Chinese city of Shenzhen has announced a lockdown due to the sharp increase in cases of COVID-19 infection.
Also in one of the country’s largest cities, Shanghai, restrictions on any non-essential movement outside the city were announced.
It is assumed that the spread of a new wave of the Corona virus in China began from Hong Kong, which borders Shenzhen, where the closure was also announced earlier. On Sunday, March 13, the country’s authorities recorded 3,122 new cases, while on Friday, two days ago, only 1,100 cases were recorded.
The New York Times reports that the closure in Shenzhen, which is one of the largest ports in China, could negatively affect the Chinese economy and international trade.
