The United Kingdom imposed sanctions on five Russian banks, as well as personal sanctions against businessmen Gennady Timchenko, as well as Arkady and Roman Rothenberg.
Promsvyazbank, Genbank, Black Sea Development and Construction Bank, Industrial Savings Bank and Rossiya Bank were all subject to British sanctions.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “We are keeping more sanctions on the alert for implementation.”
He also said that the British authorities wanted to prevent Russian companies from raising money on the London stock exchanges.
Gennady Timchenko, as well as Arkady and Roman Rothenberg, have been banned from entering the UK, and their assets in the country will be frozen. There will also be a ban on dealing with them.
