Pope Francis said a war in Ukraine would be “madness” and hoped that tensions between Russia and Ukraine would be overcome through dialogue.
“War is madness,” said Francis.
“Let us continue to pray to God for peace, so that tension and the danger of war may be overcome through serious dialogue, and that negotiations in the form of Normandy may contribute to this goal.”
Earlier, during a mass gathering at the Vatican, the Pope urged people to pray for peace in Ukraine.
