The chief infectious disease specialist in the United States: No one will be able to avoid infection with Omicron
Anthony Fauci, chief US infectious disease specialist and director of the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said the Omicron virus strain would cause significant harm to those unvaccinated.
According to him, vaccinated and revaccinated citizens will also be infected with the new strain, but the presence of antibodies will prevent them from being hospitalized.
Some, perhaps many, will become infected, but it is very likely, with a few exceptions, that they will feel good enough. “Meaning, they’re not going to be hospitalized or die,” Fauci said.
