Afghan refugees flock in large numbers to Iran

Because of the massive influx of immigrants after the Taliban seized power want Iran, they want to create a section for refugees because of the situation in Afghanistan

“Creating an organization to solve the problems of millions of immigrants is on the government’s agenda,” said Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, more than 500,000 refugees have arrived in Iran since the beginning of 2021.

At the same time, the total number of refugees from Afghanistan in Iran is estimated at 2.2 million illegal immigrants and about 780 thousand people live in the country on a permanent basis.

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, has called for help in Iran to deal with the refugee influx.
