Ruben Amorim looks to reap the rewards of Man United loanees’ time away from Old Trafford – as a question mark looms over Marcus Rashford’s future at his boyhood club

Ruben Amorim has insisted that Marcus Rashford and Antony going on loan will reap long-term benefits for Manchester United even at the expense of some results this season.

Both players have impressed at Aston Villa and Real Betis whilst United’s form has suffered and they face Bournemouth on Sunday a massive 41 points behind leaders Liverpool.

‘We lost Rashford and Antony in January and didn’t bring new ones.

‘It was a risk but I think there are things here more important than to score more goals this season.

‘We can hurt the squad now, but in the future it’s going to help the club. So, I think we are in that path.’

United will try to sell the two players and another loanee Jadon Sancho this summer to raise funds for the rebuild Amorim wants.

Despite United’s league woes, they are in the Europa League semi-final and Amorim says he has no regrets leaving Sporting Lisbon for Old Trafford.

‘We are suffering a lot here but I feel that this is the most important time, maybe, in the next few years,’ he said.

‘We are going to use all the information to prepare better the next few years.’

‘I think we are improving the way we play. I have no regrets of joining Manchester.’
