MasterChef Judge Andy Allen Shuts Down Rumour That He Hates Spicy Food: ‘I Just Show It’

Over the years, MasterChef Australia judge Andy Allen has developed a reputation for having a little bit of trouble with spicy food.
It almost seems like each time a dish featuring a sambal with a kick, a picante hot sauce or chilli-infused curry is put in front of the 36-year-old, his fellow judges Sofia Levin, Poh Ling Yeow and Jean-Christophe Novelli can’t help but make a cheeky little joke.
But now, Andy is ready to confront the rumours that he is scared of spice head on.
“I’m going to put this to bed once and for all,” Andy tells PEDESTRIAN.TV.
“I love spice, but I show my emotions. When I have chilli, I start crying, there might be a little bit of sweat. I really do enjoy spice, it just hits me!”
Although he’s never backed down from a hot and spicy dish on MasterChef, he says the rumour he hates spicy food has developed.
“Everyone’s like, ‘Oh, you can’t handle spice’. I can handle spice, but I just show it,” he continues.
“I’m not that tough guy who just stands there, and you just see beads of sweat rolling down his face. I let everyone know that it’s hot!”
Well, now that the record is set straight on these cheeky whispers, I can’t wait to watch Andy outwardly struggle on the upcoming season of MasterChef Australia: Back To Win.
And thankfully, we don’t have to wait long. MasterChef Australia season 17 kicks off on Monday, April 28, at 7.30pm. To find out everything about the show — including the cast returning to the beloved cooking show — click HERE.
