It’s been a whirlwind week for Married At First Sight (MAFS) stars Jacqui Burfoot and Clint Rice. MAFS finally wrapped up, they got engaged, and now they’re doing the media rounds before moving on to the next phase of their life without a reality television show.
However, as the newly betrothed couple were revelling in sharing their joy with the world, fans couldn’t help by notice that Clint was rocking a shiner, prompting fans to question whether the pro-golfer was okay.
Shortly after we posted our video interview with the happy couple, the comment sections across TikTok, Instagram and even Facebook were flooded with the same question: what’s with the black eye?
“Can we talk about why Clint has a black eye?” commented one TikToker.
“Where’s your black eye from Clint?” wrote another.
“Was the black eye her or people from the west?” quipped another, referencing controversial comments Clint made about Western Sydney in the reunion episode.
Speaking to PEDESTRIAN.TV, Clint confirmed that it was nothing serious.
“I was in the gym lifting weights and hit it on a barbell,” Clint said with a laugh.
Although Clint didn’t specify exactly which exercise he was doing when he had the dumbbell blunder, I feel like we’ve all had some embarrassing gym moments.
For instance, one time I broke my toe from doing a pull-up. Yes, you read that correctly. My 5’3 ass was jumping up to grab the bar on an assisted machine when I kicked my foot into the metal frame. So, Clint, if you’re reading this, I hope you know it could be worse. Hope your eye clears up soon, doll!
Despite running around with a black eye, Clint was in high spirits. After all, he’d only just asked the love of his life to marry him two days prior — and she said yes!
However, the pair admit that they’re struggling to comprehend the hate they’ve received around their engagement.
“We’re real people, we’re genuine people, and we’re in love. Why hate on that?” Clint says.
“Why be so negative about what we’re doing? Follow us or don’t follow us, we don’t care. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to be a part of our life. But the people who are a part of it and they’re enjoying it, we want to share that with them.”
