NFL quarterback Drew Lock’s restaurateur dad dies suddenly

The father of NFL quarterback Drew Lock has died.

Andy Lock was a restauranteur in Kansas City and co-founder of Summit Hospitality Group, who announced in a statement that he’d died surrounded by his family on Thursday. 

‘Andy was the heart and soul of Summit Hospitality Group—a visionary, a leader, and a friend to so many,’ a statement on Instagram read. ‘From the early days of opening Summit Grill to the launch of Third Street Social, Boru, Pearl Tavern, South of Summit, and Neighborhood Cafe, Andy’s passion for food, people, and community shaped everything we do.

‘He believed restaurants should feel like home – and that every guest, team member, and meal mattered. 

‘His legacy lives on in every dish we serve, every warm welcome we offer, and every moment we share across our restaurants.’

The news was first reported by Fox 4 Kansas City

A cause of death for Andy has not been disclosed to date. 

Along with his business partner Domhnall Molloy, Andy was named one of the  ‘Restaurateurs of the Year’ by the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association. 

In their statement, Summit Hospitality Group said they would share more information soon about a memorial service for Andy.

His son, Drew, was a standout quarterback at the University of Missouri before being selected No. 42 overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.

He began his career with the Broncos, starting 21 games over three seasons, before stints with the Seahawks and Giants over the next two years.

Last year, he appeared in eight games for the Giants, with five starts.
