Mother of football star knifed to death bursts into tears on live TV and sends message to murderer

The mother of a high school track and football star knifed to death burst into tears on Friday as she recounted her son’s tragic stabbing death – and said she did not forgive his killer.
Austin Metcalf, 17, was fatally stabbed at a track and field meet in Frisco, Texas after a confrontation with an athlete from a different high school, in which Metcalf told the teen to move out of his team’s tent for the competition.
Metcalf and that rival, Karmelo Anthony, reportedly began fighting before the latter pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the heart.
Anthony has been charged with murder, and told cops: ‘I’m not alleged. I did it,’ according to an arrest report seen by NBC DFW.
Speaking for an interview on Fox’s The Will Cain Show, Metcalf’s mother, Meghan struggled to talk about the devastating loss and said she had not forgiven Anthony.
‘I am not like their dad,’ Meghan said, in reference to her husband, Jeff, telling NBC DFW that he forgave his son’s killer. ‘I am so angry at that boy. It’s just not fair. That’s all I have.’

Meghan added, ‘My son is gone and I don’t really have words. I’ve tried to figure out what I was gonna say. He’s just gonna be so missed by mostly our family, but this whole community has really wrapped their arms around us.
‘And if I could say anything to the nation I’d say to make sure that you hug your babies tight. Because you don’t know when the last time you get to do it [is.]
Metcalf was a star football player at Frisco’s Memorial High School and planned to be a college athlete. A GoFundMe set up for him says he was recently voted team MVP and had a 4.0 GPA at school.
Austin’s twin brother, Hunter, was with Austin at the track meet, and held his sibling in his arms as he died.
He also told The Will Cain Show that he was not yet in a place where he could forgive his brother’s killer.
At one heart-wrenching point during the interview with Cain, an emotional Meghan asked Hunter to refrain from going into further detail as he spoke about the final moments of his brother’s life.

Meghan said she did not forgive her son’s killer and admitted: ‘I am so angry at that boy.’ Austin’s brother Hunter (right), also said he was not ready to forgive the killer.

Metcalf was stabbed in the heart after telling Anthony to get up from a seat at a track meet

High school senior Anthony, 17, admitted to fatally stabbing Metcalf at a track meet
Hunter said that as his track team returned to their tent, someone said something ‘inappropriate’ and ‘un-called’ for, before he asked the boy who he was.
The other teen then started getting ‘really aggressive,’ leading Austin to intervene.
The two students from different high schools began fighting before Anthony unzipped his bag and reached in, telling Metcalf: ‘Touch me and see what happens,’ according to an arrest report.
Hunter then said that he turned around to see his brother grabbing his chest after being stabbed.
‘I pushed my hand on there [his brother’s chest], to try and make it stop and I grabbed his head and I looked in his eyes. I just saw his soul leave and it took my soul too.’
Anthony, who has been charged with murder, is being held at Collin County Jail on a $1 million bond.
He asked an officer if what he did could be considered self-defense and asked whether the victim was going to be okay, per police.
He also reportedly ran away before being arrested by responding officers.
Anthony had apparently told a school resource officer: ‘I was protecting myself,’ and, ‘He put his hands on me.’
Anthony, a senior, is also a star for the Centennial high school football team
‘UIL is deeply saddened by the tragic incident that took place at the District 11-5A track meet on April 2 at Frisco ISD’s Kuykendall Stadium,’ the school district said in a statement.
‘UIL staff is in communication with district officials to provide support and assistance during this time… Our thoughts go out to those impacted.’
