MAFS’ Jacqui Granted Interim Restraining Order Against Ryan

Just hours before Married At First Sight (MAFS) aired Jacqui Burfoot and Ryan Donnelly‘s explosive final vows, court proceedings were underway with Jacqui seeking an interim restraining order against Ryan to stop him from commenting on social media about her.

According to The Canberra Times, Jacqui and her partner, fellow MAFS star Clint Rice, attended court in Tasmania on Monday for the second time to lodge a complaint about comments Ryan allegedly made about her online. Jacqui reportedly claimed that his alleged conduct had escalated and complained specifically about an interview her on-screen husband did with Daily Mail Australia.

Launceston magistrate Sharon Cure warned that issuing an order to prevent Ryan from publishing content about her could prevent the show from going ahead. However, Jacqui clarified that she was “happy for the show to go ahead”.

While the court heard that both parties had posted about each other, Magistrate Cure deemed that Jacqui had been harmed by what Ryan had posted. Jacqui also alleged that Ryan’s comments affected her ability to work as a lawyer.

Per The Canberra Times, Magistrate Cure granted an interim order which stipulates that Ryan cannot “directly or indirectly threaten, harass, abuse or publish on social media denigrating material”.

“I warn you against publishing material,” Magistrate Cure reportedly told Jacqui.

Jacqui reportedly asked whether she could serve Ryan with the order via social media, but was promptly cut down by the magistrate.

“No, using social media to serve restraining orders is completely inappropriate,” she said.
