Sia has filed for divorce from her husband, Dan Bernard, and the filing has revealed that the pair secretly welcomed a baby last year.
The Aussie singer (full name Sia Furler) legally wedded Bernard back in 2022, with the end of their two-year marriage cited as irreconcilable differences in divorce papers filed on Tuesday.
While little is known about the couple’s private lives — they were last spotted together in February — the filing, obtained by Page Six, revealed that Sia and Bernard had a baby that was unknown to the public in March of last year.
The baby, who will celebrate their first birthday later this week, is named Somersault Wonder (yep), meaning they are probably destined for playdates with fellow curiously named celebrity offspring like Apple Martin, North West, and whatever internet password Elon Musk has landed on.
In the filing, Sia is seeking full custody of Somersault but wants Bernard to have visitation rights. She is also requesting that the court deny Bernard’s ability to receive spousal support.
It’s not yet known whether the couple have a prenup arrangement in place, and therefore whether Bernard has access to all that “Chandelier” coin.
One year after their legal nuptials, Sia and Bernard hosted an intimate wedding ceremony in Portofino, Italy, at the same venue where Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker tied the knot the year prior. (You stole my wedding country!).
Unlike at Kardashian’s wedding, Andrea Bochelli didn’t perform at Sia’s wedding (likely to Kim Kardashian’s delight), and it’s reported that only four guests attended the ceremony alongside the newlyweds.
We don’t know exactly when Sia and Bernard, an entertainment executive, first met, but one of their early public outings was in 2021, when they attended the Los Angeles premiere of West Side Story.
Prior to Bernard, Sia was married to sports documentary filmmaker Erik Anders from 2014 to 2016.
Alongside Somersault, Sia revealed in 2020 that she had two other 18-year-old kids, whom she adopted after spotting them on a documentary. The “Elastic Heart” singer later became a grandma when one of her adopted sons welcomed two new babies.
We don’t know the names of those kids, but given this new Somersault tea, my bet’s on Handstand and Cartwheel.
