Jacqui Burfoot and Ryan Donnelly had one of the weirdest Married At First Sight (MAFS) Homestay weeks. It did, however, bless us with one of the most iconic MAFS quotes of the season. I’ve added “your brain is small, I can’t conversate with you” to my list of rejection lines.
Anyway, it turns out that Jacqui’s odd behaviour could possibly have been part of a larger test for her husband Ryan, and a body language expert has decoded what’s going on. Scott Taylor trained with a former head of the FBI Behaviour unit and is a security, safety and risk professional, so he knows a few things!
The bride suddenly decided she didn’t like Ryan’s beard and cried a lot during Homestays. Scott believes it’s part of a point-ticking exercise so she can have more ammunition against her husband.
“She is just trying to spark more conflict to add more random examples of where he won’t compromise,” Scott tells PEDESTRIAN.TV.
“Jacqui is constantly trying to engineer broader conflict around just point scoring on items Ryan doesn’t seem to want to compromise on.”
Plus, Jacqui likely took Ryan specifically to her local flower shop to see if he was going to pay. It was possibly a “test” so she could add it to her ~I hate Ryan~ list if he didn’t take the bait.
He adds that the couple use “self pacifying gestures” during their chats, which means there “isn’t any true connection there at all”. Spicy.
And as for all of Jacqui’s meltdowns? Scott reckons she’s faking her tears!
“Fake crying, which would now be number 914 that we saw from Jacqui at that time,” he jokes. “When we say fake crying, there’s no activation that we get [between the eyebrows], that start to turn up the corners of the eyebrows,” he said on TikTok.
Jacqui has responded to this, saying that she wasn’t fake crying and that somebody should “hire [her] as an actor if [she] can fake cry”.
Jamie and Georgia’s conversation with Dave on MAFS was ‘staged’
We’ve also all been wondering WTF is up with Dave Hand and Jamie Marinos on MAFS, after the once loveable gentle giant turned into a lump of emotionless coal.
He got a grilling from both Jamie and her sister Georgia during last night’s episode, but Scott reckons we didn’t see the whole story.

After Georgia called Dave out about how he doesn’t have a “love connection” with Jamie, there was a telling smile from Jamie which could mean their attack on Dave could have been planned all along.
“When [Georgia] spoke about the relationship balance… Jamie let a smile slip, this is a pre-set agenda flow her sister is following,” Scott tells PEDESTRIAN.TV.
“The direct questions from [Georgia] was set for response — there was no quantification,” he adds, explaining that this conversation seemed to have been “staged” for drama, rather than actually trying to fix their relationship.
“When her sister was speaking to Dave you could see a couple of times that micro-expression smile come out as she was pressing there. What does that indicate to me? That it was highly likely that it was a pre-staged, pre-set order. So Jamie would have prepped her sister to say, ‘This is the path I want you to take, this is how direct I want you to be’,” he added in a TikTok video.
Could this mean that Jamie has completely tapped out now that she is aware of Dave’s feelings? Tonight’s Homestays episode is going to be interesting, that’s for sure.
