Inothewayurthinkin produces late surge to deny Galopin Des Champs historic hat-trick of Cheltenham Gold Cups

Inothewayurthinkin produced a stunning finish to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup and deny Galopin Des Champs a historic hat-trick.

Galopin Des Champs had looked poised to add to victories in 2023 and 2024 having led heading into the final two fences of the race.

Inothewayurthinkin, ridden by Mark Walsh, stormed through in the closing stages to claim victory by six lengths.

‘I’m dancing inside, it’s brilliant, I can’t believe it,’ Walsh told ITV Sport.

‘He jumped well. Paul was on my outside and I saw he was missing a few fences.

‘But in fairness my one has grown up in the last year. Gavin is a genius to have him spot on for today.

‘He is a home bred too which makes it extra special.’

 Owner JP McManus added: ‘It’s a very exciting time and I will treasure it.

‘I’d like to see the race again. I don’t think I took it all in.’

Galopin Des Champs came across the finish in second having agonisingly missed out on a historic victory.

The result leaves Golden Miller, Cottage Rake, Arkle and Best Mate as the only four horses to have earned a hat-trick of wins at the famous race.
