I lost 60lbs in 6 months by doing the opposite of what doctors told me… and I didn’t exercise once

It’s a diet that has been deemed a ‘terrible idea’ by most health experts.

But a slimmer has revealed her staggering transformation after embracing the ‘carnivore’ lifestyle which only allows the consumption of animal products and water.

Angelina Marie, 30, who is a full-time mother-of-two from Mississippi, was desperate to lose weight after ballooning to 209lbs.

After learning about the carnivore diet online, she stopped eating carbohydrates, ditched processed foods and stocked her fridge up with steaks.

The brunette said she was shocked when she dropped 11lbs in her first seven says and she ‘couldn’t believe the scale.’

Now, six months on, she has lost 62lbs and has never felt better.

Ms Marie said she shed the pounds purely through diet as she was not fond of exercise.

She has started lifting weights now, but that is purely to get stronger and it is not for weight-loss. In fact, she has actually gain a few pounds from building new muscle mass.

In terms of her daily diet, Ms Marie says she fasts until midday and then she will cook something like scrambled eggs with bacon or scallops wrapped in bacon.

Her next meal is generally around 6pm – three hours before she goes to bed – and dinner is generally something like a steak, pork chops, or chicken wings.

During the day if she is hungry, she snacks on beef jerky or meat sticks.

In her TikTok videos, Ms Marie warns of one common side effect of the carnivore diet known as the ‘carnivore flu’.

She explains: ‘[This is when] your body is not used to having as much fats and high protein and no carbs, no sugar.

‘So, you might get headaches, you might get diarrhea, you might get nausea. All of these things are expected, but you have to be ready.

‘I always suggest having a high quality electrolyte and eating red meat because it  is very nutrient intense compared to leaner meats.

‘This is going to have more fat and more protein than chicken breast, so you’re going to feel a lot better faster.’

Ms Marie says she never counts calories and she only weighs herself every Thursday to check her progress.

Along with losing weight, Ms Marie claims she has been less bloated and her skin has improved while being on the carnivore diet.

She says she has also developed a better relationship with food, as it ‘teaches you how to intuitively eat’.

The content creator adds: ‘[Now] I eat when I’m hungry, I stop when I’m full and I hydrate aggressively in between.’

Interest in the diet has been partly fuelled by advocates like Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson, who say it’s improved their mental and physical abilities. However, as popularity soared, so has research warning of potential hazards.

One 2023 study found people who eat just two servings of meat per week are at an increased risk for developing type 2 diabetes.

The Harvard University research, which is based on data from over 200,000 people followed almost 40 years, found those who ate the most red meat had a 62 percent higher risk compared to those eating the least.

And research from Oxford University found higher consumption of red meat increased the risk of heart disease by 18 percent for each additional 50 grams eaten per day.

One particularity harrowing case even saw a man on a carnivore diet suffer cholesterol levels so high that the fatty substance began leaking out of his hands.

Experts have also warned that those who limit their diet to meat could be at increased risk of conditions like scurvy and even cancer due to the diet’s lack of vitamin C and fibre.

While doctors from the Indiana University School of Medicine recently warned the diet could lead to increased risk of agonizing kidney stones – stone-like lumps in the organ that form from excess waste products.

However, some experts dispute some of findings of studies about the dangers of eating too much meat.

They highlight much of research fails to distinguish between the impact of processed meat like sausages and burger patties and less processed cuts like steak.

Most experts advise adopting a balanced diet of healthy animal products like lean cuts of meat, dairy and eggs alongside plenty of fruit and vegetables and wholegrain carbohydrates.
