Former Jets star Solomon Thomas signs two-year deal with the Cowboys as Jerry Jones splashes the cash

Former New York Jets defensive end Solomon Thomas has agreed a two-year, $8million deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

Thomas endured a difficult year with the Jets, appearing in 16 games but starting just one, and was part of the team that went 5-12 under Robert Saleh and then Joe Douglas.

He has now agreed a deal with Dallas that will see him return home to Texas, after he grew up there and went to high school at Coppell.

Thomas will boost the Cowboys’ defensive line and brings eight years of NFL experience with him at the age of 29.

He was drafted No. 3 overall by the San Francisco 49ers in 2017, playing three full seasons on the team before tearing his ACL in Week 2 of the 2020 season.

He signed a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021 and played every game that season, before moving on to New York for three years.

In 2018, Thomas’ sister died by suicide and he has openly spoken about her death, even starting a non-profit organization called ‘The Defensive Line’ aiming to reduce youth suicide.

In Dallas, Thomas will join Osa Odighizuwa and Mazi Smith in the center of the team’s defensive line.

In Brian Schottenheimer, they have a first-year head coach going into the 2025 season, after Mike McCarthy was let go.
