Arsenal and Liverpool target ‘makes decision on his future with current contract set to expire in the summer’
A player wanted by the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain has reportedly made a decision on his future after months of speculation.
Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich, 30, is currently set to become a free agent in the summer.
It was already public knowledge that Bayern had offered him an extension but he has had been hesitant over putting pep to paper.
However, Kimmich seems to have made his mind up with The Athletic reporting that he is now close to signing a new deal.
The report claims an agreement has been reached in principal for the German to sign a new three-year contract which will keep him at the Allianz Arena until 2028.
The news will come as a blow to the Gunners and the Reds, who have both been monitoring the player’s situation.

Bayern’s original offer of a new deal, which would have seen Kimmich remain on the same pay, had initially been withdrawn following the player’s response.
Kimmich provided an update following his side’s 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Wednesday, saying he would be making a decision soon.
‘My plan was to make my decision before the international break,’ he said after playing the full 90 minutes of the clash.
‘The club didn’t want that, which is legitimate. There will be a decision soon. It will definitely be before the international break at the latest.’
‘Other clubs also play a role in my decision on the future. I won’t mention which clubs, but there will be a decision soon.’
Kimmich has been an integral member of Bayern’s side since joining the club from RB Leipzig in 2015, with the midfielder having made more than 400 appearances and won 20 trophies, including eight Bundesliga titles.
He has also won 97 caps for Germany and became their new captain following Euro 2024.
Bayern are currently eight points clear of Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga as they look to regain the title after being bested last season.
