Moment dopey walkers sit beneath tottering cliff hours after thousands of tons rock plunged onto nudist beach

A dopey walker was spotted lounging beneath a dangerous cliff just hours after thousands of rocks plummeted onto a local beach.

The beach goer seemed blissfully unpeturbed as he gazed out to sea beneath Haven Cliff, near Seaton in Devon.

The Coastguard had urged walkers to stay clear of the beach after the mudstone cliff crumbled and collapsed in the frosty conditions across a 300ft section of the beach on Saturday.

Coastguards rushed to the scene and luckily no pedestrians were harmed by the tons of debris which fell from the sky.

‘Major cliff fall, east of the river Axe,’ a Beer Coastguard Rescue Team spokesman said.

‘This has affected Axe cliff golf course and the beach below. Please stay clear of the area as there is still debris falling there.

‘Ourselves and Lyme Regis lifeboat have checked the beach either side of the fall to confirm no persons were involved. Stay clear and do not walk or climb over it.’

Locals have slammed the beach-goer for visiting the pebbly beach despite warnings from emergency responders

But their warning seemingly fell on deaf ears, with not just one man sitting beneath the perilous cliff but two more walking along the beach.

Locals have since slammed the visitors for putting their own safety on the line as well as ignoring the advice of emergency responders.

‘Can’t believe that people would do that,’ one local quipped: ‘These cliffs are so unpredictable and could fall at any time with the weather we have recently had.’

A second chimed: ‘So who’s the person sitting right next to it then? If more falls he’ll be the first who wants rescuing.’

‘Plus the two idiots nearer the waters edge,’ a third wrote, whilst another added: ‘My thoughts too.’

Last August a terrifying cliff fall only 10 miles westbound in Sidmouth was captured on camera.

The dramatic cliff fall threw up a billowing cloud of dust, forcing terrified beach-goers to run into the sea to escape the landslip.

Families with young children had been sunbathing on the shoreline close by when the cliff collapsed, but thankfully no-one was injured by the fall.

Warning signs had already been put up at Jacob’s Ladder beach, in Sidmouth, prior to the terrifying incident which took place on August 24.
