
In a new Egyptian achievement on the international scientific scene, Dr. Amr Hamouda, a professor at the National Institute of Sea Sciences of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, was chosen as head of the work group concerned with Tsunami and other risks associated with the warning systems and mitigation of the sea level, affiliated to UNESCO. Scientific research in Egypt and the National Institute of Sea Sciences, where Dr. Hammouda became the first expert from Africa and the Middle East to head the Global Experts Group in UNESCO. The first meeting of the committee under his leadership was chaired in February 2025 at the organization’s headquarters in Paris.
