Well, folks, it’s the end of an era. Georgia Love and Lee Elliott, the golden couple from The Bachelorette Australia 2016, have officially called it quits after nine years together.
The pair took to Instagram on Friday to share the news, posting identical statements. Georgia, 35, wrote, “After nine wonderful years together, including four as husband and wife, Lee and I have made the incredibly difficult decision to lovingly part ways.”
Georgia went on to describe their relationship as “special,” saying they’ll always cherish the memories they’ve made.
They kept things low-key and mature, emphasising that there’s “no drama, no bad blood. Just two people who have grown in different directions while still holding deep respect and care for each other”.
Now, if you’ve been paying attention to the goss, you might’ve noticed that rumours about their relationship have been swirling for a while. Eagle-eyed fans spotted Georgia without her ring while she was living it up in New York last December, sans Lee.
At the time, Georgia shut down the rumours, telling nosy followers to stop speculating. But as it turns out, where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
“We didn’t [split], actually. Best to stop speculating, least of all on my own page. If I had anything to tell you all, I would do so myself,” she had commented.
Well, it seems the time has come for her to do just that.
Georgia and Lee’s love story kicked off in 2016 when she chose him over Matty Johnson in the finale of The Bachelorette. Truly one of the best moments of reality TV history. They got engaged in 2019 and tied the knot in an intimate and GORGEOUS ceremony in Tassie in 2021.
Their last public appearance together was at the opening night of Tina – The Tina Turner Musical in Melbourne last October, per 9 Honey. Since then, they’ve been conspicuously absent from each other’s social media feeds, with Lee’s last appearance on Georgia’s Instagram dating back to September.
Here’s hoping they both find happiness in their next chapters. In the meantime I’m gonna go try and convince myself that love is still real.
