TRY – Porecki stretches Waratahs’ lead
A rolling maul gets the job done for the Waratahs here, with Porecki crashing over for a try after his defence came up trumps moments earlier. Tane Edmed’s conversion is off target from a very kickable angle, but the NSW lead is starting to look something close to comfortable for the first time in this contest.

Second half underway and NSW go on the attack
The second half kicks off and the Waratahs force a turnover almost immediately, Motikiai Murray spilling the ball in a crunching tackle from Dave Porecki. A penalty from the resulting scrum puts the Tahs on the attack, with a lineout just outside the Drua’s 22.

TRY – Gleeson strikes again to put Tahs on top
The Tahs are starting to dominate again here, Andrew Kellaway making a couple of half breaks as the Tahs stretch the Fijian defensive line. When the try finally comes, it’s a strange one – Jake Gordon chips a kick over the top, Max Jorgensen chases hard and wraps up Drua five-eighth Caleb Muntz a metre out from the Fiji line, and the ball spills clear for Langi Gleeson to pounce on his second try of the night.

Waratahs narrow the gap
A penalty against Fijian hooker Tevita Ikanivere allows the Waratahs to add a simple three points through Tane Edmed, and both sides get a breather after a whirlwind start in 30-degree conditions at Allianz Stadium.

TRY – The Drua lead again after a magic finish from ex-Waratah
Some magic footwork on the wing from former Waratahs flyer Vuate Karawalevu puts the Fijians back in front. Karawalevu has the Tahs backtracking and weaves past two defenders before diving for the corner with a terrific putdown.
The conversion attempt goes wide but it’s still a great start for the Drua here.

TRY – The Tahs hit back
The Waratahs have levelled thins up quickly. A well-worked attacking lineout, a quick drive, and one ruck later Langi Gleeson gets a short ball and scuttles over for a try. Tane Edmed converts.

TRY – Drua strike first out of nowhere
The Waratahs have had all the ball but struggled to do much with it, but the Drua haven’t had that problem – a poor kick and poor chase from the Tahs leads to a scrappy ruck and a turnover, and they strike immediately, Meli Derenalagi scooping up the loose ball getting the ball out to winger Ponipate Loganimasi who runs away untouched for the game’s first points. Caleb Muntz converts the try.
