Ruben Amorim has publicly defended Patrick Dorgu after the 20-year-old player’s goal-leading error and red card against Ipswich Town on Wednesday.
Despite a 3-2 win at Old Trafford and three points for the Premier League table, it was a horror evening for the Denmark international.
It all started when Dorgu was involved in a mix-up with Andre Onana – a mistake which led to Ipswich’s opening goal in the fourth minute through Jaden Philogene-Bidace’s effort.
The Red Devils managed to equalise and even take the lead when Matthijs de Ligt got on the scoresheet with a close-range strike following a corner-kick play.
Despite a comfortable situation at the end of the first half, United were reduced to 10 men on the pitch after referee Darren England sent off Dorgu after a VAR review following a reckless challenge on Omari Hutchinson.
However, in a post-match interview with TNT Sports after the end of the game, Amorim said: ‘Today I’m not frustrated.

The Portuguese manager has publicly defended the 20-year-old star despite his huge error and red card against Ipswich Town on Wednesday

The Dermark international was dismissed shortly after United took the lead at Old Trafford through Matthijs de Ligt’s effort in 26th minute
‘With the situations of the game, of course you get a little bit of frustrated with the game because we suffered a goal, one mistake and that can happen.
‘But since the first minute I felt that the players were fine, were trying to play.
‘We managed to score two goals and then the sending off changed the game a little bit but the fight that the guys showed… and our fans helped us a lot so I think we fully deserved the three points today.’
Luckily for United and Dorgu, Harry Maguire has responded to Philogene-Bidace’s second equaliser with a stunning head strike following Bruno Fernandes’ corner kick in the 47th minute.
‘There are moments that are really, really hard but that is natural in our profession,’ he added.
‘You need to suffer in some moments to enjoy the good moments also. We have to pass this moment, we have to think just about the next game and not in the past or in the future.
‘Let’s think in the moment. We won this game and let’s prepare for the next one.’
The 20-year-old saw his third Premier League start since moving to Old Trafford during the January transfer window.

Dorgu’s dismissal means that he will miss the fifth round of the FA Cup against Fulham on Sunday
He made his debut at the beginning of February against Leicester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup but was quickly replaced at half-time by Alejandro Garnacho.
‘Any player here can have a mistake like today from Patrick and the sending off, he wants to play the ball,’ Amorim added.
‘Maybe he’s a little bit harsh with the way he went for the ball. He’s inexperienced but he’s clearly ready for the Premier League.
‘People judge right away so last week he was okay, good performance against Everton and today they will say that he’s not experienced enough to play in the Premier League. But I don’t feel that way.’
Dorgu’s dismissal means that the Denmark international will not be available for United’s clash against Fulham in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Red Devils’ newcomer will join the long list of United’s absentees as several key players, such as Kobbie Mainoo, Jonny Evans, and Luke Shaw, are injured.
Furthermore, Lisandro Martinez and Amad Diallo have been confirmed to be out for the rest of the current season.
