Chelsea star ‘to make shock return to their squad TONIGHT’, despite Enzo Maresca claiming he had a season-ending injury

Chelsea fans have been given a boost with news that one of their stars is set to make a surprise early return to their matchday squad on Tuesday night.

The Blues are in the midst of a miserable run of form which has seen them win just two of their last nine Premier League games.

They will be confident of returning to winning ways after back-to-back top flight defeats when they host the top flight’s bottom side Southampton on Tuesday night.

And they will be even more so following reports that Wesley Fofana will be involved in the squad.

The £75m defender has not been seen since suffering a hamstring injury against Aston Villa on December 1.

It was originally thought that he would be out for around a month but manager Enzo Maresca revealed in January that he could be out for the season.

However, RMC Sport claim that is certainly not the case and ‘he will be back in the group’ against Southampton.

There were hopes of an early return for the Frenchman after he was seen back on the grass at Chelsea’s training ground doing individual work in recent weeks.

But even the most optimistic of Blues supporters didn’t foresee a February comeback on the horizon.

Fofana’s time at Chelsea since signing from Leicester has been curtailed by injuries.

He made only 15 Premier League appearances in 2022-23 and missed the entirety of the 2023-24 season.
