Martin Short Got COVID During ‘SNL50’, Steve Martin Reveals: “The Curse Is Real”

Although SNL50 was a huge hit for Peacock, at least two Saturday Night Live alums have contracted COVID.

On Thursday, Steve Martin revealed his comedy partner Martin Short has tested positive for coronavirus, along with Maya Rudolph, rescheduling dates on his and The Dukes Of Funnytown! Tour.

“Maya had Covid. Marty has Covid. I wonder why? The SNL 50th Covid curse is real,” wrote Martin on Instagram with a photo of Short and Rudolph sharing a friendly kiss at the anniversary special taping.

“Unfortunately, we have to reschedule our sold out Durham and Knoxville dates to 10/17 Knoxville and 10/18 Durham,” added Martin. “So sorry for the inconvenience. I think we’ll be funnier then, anyway.”

Martin, a frequent SNL host, was joined by Short (briefly an SNL cast member from 1984-’85) as he gave a hilarious monologue during Sunday’s SNL50: The Anniversary Specialwhich saw 14.8 million viewers across Peacock and NBC.

Rudolph, who appeared on SNL from 1999 to 2007, was one of many alums to return for Sunday’s anniversary special, reuniting with Amy Poehler for their ‘Bronx Beat‘ sketch.
