After a long, tiring and relentless wait, season three of The White Lotus is finally here. Although many fans are relieved to finally get our fix of the beloved awkward drama, many have taken to online forums to share their dissatisfaction with two elements in the first episode: The theme song and the hint of an incest-esque storyline.

The moment the series began, fans went absolutely bananas over the theme song — and not in a good way. Although I personally think it absolutely slaps, folks were incredibly bummed not to hear the beloved tongue-wiggling theme song we’d heard during the first two seasons.
Instead, it was replaced by a new track which you can hear below.
Naturally, punters took to the internet to share their dissatisfaction.
Once you make it past the new theme song, we’re introduced to a host of new characters, including the Ratliff family.
There’s Timothy (Jason Isaacs), a businessman who seems to be caught up in something as he fends off calls from journalists, and Victoria (Parker Posey), the supportive wife and the matriarch of the family.
They’re joined by their three kids: finance bro son Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger), their middle child Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) who brought the family to Thailand to interview a Buddhist monk and their youngest Lochlan (Sam Nivola).
From the get-go, it feels like Saxon is meddling in red pill-adjacent rhetoric, and keen to indoctrinate his younger brother to his same ideologies. While it’s uncomfortable to watch unfold, it wasn’t the biggest ick viewers had with the episode.
Instead, it was the weirdly incestual implications between the Ratliff siblings.
It wasn’t just a weird vibe between two of the siblings, the incestual implication was felt between literally all of them. But the worst bit was when the eldest brother Saxon noted to his brother that his sister was hot before he asked his little brother Lochlan what porn he liked and proceeded to head to the bathroom to jerk off.
And if you thought it couldn’t get any worse, you just wait until you see the scene where Lochlan is shown watching as his older brother sets up his iPad in the bathroom before he shuts the door.
YIKES. Again, the internet had some ~thoughts~ about the creative choices made by creator Mike White for the incest implications.
Whether HBO has an incest storyline quota or not, I think we can all agree the first episode of The White Lotus season three was incredibly intriguing and I am absolutely sat ready for episode two.
