Ryles takes charge as Dylan Brown and the Parramatta Eels face the Newcastle Knights

Hello and welcome to our coverage of tonight’s trial match between Newcastle and Parramatta. What better way to spend a couple of hours on Valentine’s Day than following some live February footy.

It’s our first real look at Jason Ryles’ Eels team, with young gun Isaiah Iongi filling Clint Gutherson’s old fullback role and in-demand playmaker Dylan Brown lining up at five-eighth.

Brown can negotiate with other clubs until round 10 this season before opting whether to pick up the next three years of his contract at the Eels, and one of the clubs monitoring Brown’s situation is Newcastle.

The Knights have a new-look halves combination of their own tonight with fullback Fletcher Sharpe making the switch to five-eighth alongside halfback Jack Cogger, while fellow playmakers Tyson Gamble and Jackson Hastings will come off the bench. Livewire Englishman Will Pryce will wear the No.1 jersey while Tyson Frizell has made the move from the second row to the middle of the park at lock.
