Love It or List It fans blast ‘ungrateful’ couple for complaining about their £643,000 four-bedroom house which features a heated pool

Love It or List It fans have hit out at an ‘ungrateful’ couple for complaining about their £643,000 house which has a heated pool.

GP Suky and office manager Gordon went on the Channel 4 show with their large four-bedroom detached house located in a village outside of Wolverhampton, a property they have called home for 11 years.

The couple who have three children aged nine, eight and five, were disagreeing about whether to invest in doing up their home, fixing its flaws, or whether to put it on the market, enlisting the help of property gurus Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer.

Suky started out as team list it as she was not happy with the light levels in their lounge, calling it ‘the cave’.

She added: ‘For my mental health, I need more natural light, the conservatory while it’s so beautiful, is cold and I never want to sit in it. It feels like there is no space for me to relax.’

The medic also said that she felt ‘isolated’ and ‘lonely’ from the rest of the family when cooking in the kitchen. Suky said that would like a property with a utility room because laundry piles up and clutters the house.

When asked what attracted them to the property in the first place, Gordon – who was team love it from the start – admitted that it was the luxurious heated indoor pool, which is in its own separate building at the back of the garden.

Upon spending £75,000 renovating the house in a bid to add more light to solve the issues, the duo had a dispute with their builders over rising costs, which meant their home remained a building site for months, with no heating downstairs during the winter.

Suky and Gordon – who had a budget of £80,000 to renovate – were criticised as being ‘ungrateful’ and told to ‘get a dose of reality’ by viewers after complaining about the delayed building work and the property’s imperfections.

One fan wrote on X: ‘An hour max in the kitchen is not a reason to move, especially when your kitchen is that massive, ungrateful people always on this show.’

Another penned: ‘Of course these two “we’ve [got] a swimming pool in the garden and still not happy” have had their builders walk off the site.’

A third wrote: ‘Are these people joking?!? More bedrooms than they actually need. An office for home working. And a effing swimming pool and sauna. Dose of reality required. Fast.’

A fourth commented: ‘When you complain that you don’t have a utility room and that your husband has hijacked the dining room and turned it into a home office, yet you have an indoor heated pool & sauna… Perhaps a sign that you may have the wrong priorities?’

At one point during Wednesday evening’s show, Suky had a disagreement with Kirstie about the placement of her new wine cellar.

The mother-of-three wanted a swanky kitchen island with a wine cooler that measured 210cm by 150cm.

However Kirstie said this was too large and said: ‘If you’ve got two fridges, you could store some wine in the annex.’

She then looked at the presenter and said: ‘Kirstie, do you want me to love this?’

A year and eight months after the first initial visit, Kirstie and Phil went back to the house to see how much had changed.

Suky and Gordon decided to change the conservatory and build a sunroom instead for more insulation and ended up taking Kirstie’s suggestion, shortening the island.

They knocked down the walls to make the area more open plan, adding more windows to ensure that Suky felt less isolated.

The family-of-five now have a kitchen – with a new island – living room and dining room all in easy reach of each other.

The pre-renovation evaluation of the house was £643,000 and the couple spent £75,000 on building work.

When asked what attracted them to the property in the first place, Gordon - who was team love it from the start - admitted that it was the luxurious heated indoor pool, which is in its own separate building at the back of the garden. Pictured, the kitchen after the renovation

Kirstie revealed that the average post-renovation cost rose to a whopping £725,000.

However, they did not get around to building Suky a utility room.

Suky said: ‘I think it would be a mistake not to, it has been a long, difficult journey. But seeing this now and seeing all this beautiful light and seeing the children being able to enjoy this space is the best thing.’
