I’m a tattoo removal expert… Pete Davidson’s big mistakes cost him dearly in $200k ink purge

Pete Davidson’s tattoo purge took four years and an estimated $200,000. He has called the experience ‘horrible.’

But according to one tattoo removal company, the 31-year-old could have done it faster, cheaper, and with much less pain.

NAAMA, a high-tech tattoo removal studio based in New York, analyzed Davidson’s ink and estimated that its cutting-edge laser system could have cleared his skin in about 18 months for as little as $15,000 — roughly a tenth of what he actually paid.

‘Tattoo removal can be very expensive, especially since the number of sessions varies for each person,’ Verity Taylor, one of the laser experts at NAAMA, told Daily Mail.

‘For Pete, the process took four years and cost $200K. At NAAMA, I estimate his removal could have been completed in about 18 months.’

NAAMA spent 10 years developing its core tattoo removal technology.

The brand claims its lasers pulse 1,000 times a second, which is 100 times faster than competing tattoo removal technologies.

The increased pulse rate is less harmful to the skin, the company said, allowing customers to recover faster and schedule appointments more frequently.

Removal experts believe Davidson, 31, spent thousands on his tattoo surgeries

NAAMA said some clients are healed after removal surgeries in as few as two to three weeks.

The sessions, which are capped at $15,000 to $20,000, take less time to complete since they cover more surface area.

It’s also less painful.

Davidson, a former Saturday Night Live cast member turned movie star and socialite, started removing his tattoos in 2020.

His arms, chest, and even parts of his legs were covered in patchworks of designs, including images of celebrities.

A printed bust of Ruth Bader Ginsburg took up his right shoulder. An inked Saturn swirled on his left elbow. Hillary Clinton’s silhouette was emblazoned on his right calf.

But Davidson said he had a change of heart when he decided to make some drastic life changes.

‘I got sober and I saw myself in the mirror, and I was like nah,’ he told TODAY. ‘I was like, I need to change it up a little bit.’

Davidson joins a growing roster of A-listers who nixed ink from their skin.

Pharrell Williams, Victoria Beckham, Angelina Jolie, and Megan Fox have all gone through surgeries to remove unwanted tattoos from their bodies.

But if Davidson wants to remove more body art, NAAMA wants to be an even more cost-efficient solution for the celebrity.

‘Given the trauma that Pete went through, we’d love to show him that tattoo removal doesn’t have to hurt or burn the skin – or take all that time and money,’ Taylor said.

‘In case he needs any more tattoos removed in the future, we’re offering Pete a lifetime’s free membership.’
