Travis Kelce’s Eagles rival Dallas Goedert reveals how really feels about Chiefs star ahead of Super Bowl clash

Philadelphia Eagles star Dallas Goedert had nothing but praise for his Kansas city Chiefs counterpart Travis Kelce this week.

Goedert and Kelce will be pitted against each other in the battle of the tight ends during this Sunday’s Super Bowl, which will see the Eagles look to enact revenge against the Chiefs following their 2023 defeat.

However, that didn’t hold Goedert back from gushing about his rival in the buildup to the showdown down in New Orleans.

‘I think the biggest thing is spending time with him [Kelce], trying to pick his brain and his knowledge of the game,’ Goedert told reporters when asked about his opponent’s strengths during Super Bowl LIX Opening Night on Monday.

‘He’s spent so much time trying to figure out the hot spots of zones and then he’s got just such a good feel,’ he continued, hailing Kelce’s footballing knowledge.

‘He could be supposed to be doing on thing but he sees space over there and he finds it, and then Mahomes does a good job of getting the ball to him. He does everything well.’

Goedert’s appraisal of his opponents wasn’t limited to Kelce as he went on to acknowledge some of the NFL’s great tight ends.

Admitting to some bias, Goedert credited the tight end position for past Super Bowl champions’ success.

‘I’m biased because I play tight end but you look back at all the Super Bowl winners and a lot of them have some of the best tight ends, whether it’s Travis, Gronk [Rob Gronkowski], or [George] Kittle’s been to this game a lot.’ he said.

‘So, obviously I value the tight end position. I think it’s a key part to a team and the more you can do, the better you are.’

‘I’m just so grateful to compete against a guy that great,’ he added of Kelce.

Goedert, the 49th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, arrived in Philadelphia just three months after the Eagles hoisted the Lombardi Trophy at Super Bowl LII.

However, the tight end made it to the NFL’s greatest stage when the Eagles returned to the Big Game in 2023 when Philadelphia – including Kelce’s brother, former center Jason – faced off against the Chiefs.

It was Kansas City who emerged victorious in Glendale, Arizona with a 38-35 win – the first of a potential Super Bowl three-peat.

However, Goedert and the Eagles will look to enact revenge Sunday and crush the Chiefs’ hopes of a historic third-straight Super Bowl victory at Caesars Superdome this weekend.
