Julia Fox Writing Her Own Movie Scripts: We Don’t Want Reboots

Julia Fox has a message for Hollywood.

“We don’t want reboots,” she told me Sunday on the Grammys red carpet. “We don’t want remakes. We don’t want the sequel. We want new fresh content that speaks to the youth and the people of today.”

The “Uncut Gems” star said she’s currently writing and developing her own TV and movie scripts. “Financiers, hit me up,” Fox said. “I have amazing casts. I have amazing stories. They’re crazy. They’re out of this world.”

She was at the Grammys as a guest of Charli XCX, and Fox explained why she was wearing yellow rubber dishwashing gloves. “I have a feeling it’s going to be a sweep, we are going to clean house,” she said. “We’re taking all the Grammys home.” While it was Kendrick Lamar who did the most sweeping with five wins, the “Brat” singer cleaned up pretty nicely, taking home three statuettes.

It was recently announced that the “Brat” singer is teaming up A24 to produce and star in “The Moment,” a movie based on her own original idea. She will produce the film as the first project under her new production company, Studio365. Plot details are kept under wraps.

“The Moment” is the feature directorial debut of Scottish photographer and filmmaker Aidan Zamiri, who wrote the screenplay with Bertie Brandes. Charli’s longtime collaborator A. G. Cookwill compose the score.

Fox said she hasn’t spoken to Charli about appearing in the movie…yet. “How awkward [because] I wanna ask her, ‘Hey, do you have a part for me?’ Charli, you know I can act. Don’t play me, sis.”

Fox’s acting debut in the Safdie Brothers’ “Uncut Gems” earned her a breakthrough actor nomination at the 2019 Gotham Awards.
