Patrick Mahomes’ Super Bowl preparations have been disrupted by his beloved Dallas Mavericks trading their star man Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The bombshell NBA news broke late Saturday night to a sports world that could hardly believe it, with Mahomes no different to anyone else.
Mahomes took to X in disbelief, tweeting: ‘Wait what?’
The Chiefs star wrote in another post: ‘I’m sick rn (right now)…’.
Mahomes and his Chiefs team fly to New Orleans on Sunday ahead of next weekend’s Super Bowl against Philadelphia Eagles.
The Lakers are sending Anthony Davis, a 2029 first-round pick and Max Christie to the Mavericks, in exchange for Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris.
The Jazz are also receiving Jalen Hood-Schifino from the Lakers, a Mavericks 2025 second-round pick and a 2025 Clippers second-rounder from the Lakers.
The 25-year-old Doncic hasn’t played since Christmas Day after exiting his team’s game against the Timberwolves with a calf strain.
Mahomes is a huge Mavericks fan and gets to games whenever he can. He has sat courtside with Travis Kelce and wife Brittany before.
