Pep Guardiola spotted with scratches on his head AGAIN in second half against Club Bruges – after high-pressure team talk from Man City boss
Eagle-eyed fans noticed yet more scratches on Pep Guardiola’s had as Manchester City scraped into the Champions League knock-out play-offs against Club Bruges.
The 2023 champions went into half-time 1-0 down and needed some magic from Mateo Kovacic and Savinho, as well as a Bruges own goal, to reverse their fortunes after the break.
A 3-1 win was enough for City to sneak their way into the next stage of the competition in 22nd place, but it was not without its stresses.
Guardiola’s head looked like it had been giving the fingernail treatment as he took his seat in the second half.
‘Every time we see Guardiola we can see how much he is going through it emotionally tonight,’ said TNT Sports commentator Darren Fletcher.
Earlier this season, Guardiola has scratches on his head and a cut above his nose after City collapsed to draw 3-3 with Feyenoord.

‘I cut myself with my fingernail (during the game). I want to hurt myself,’ he said afterwards.
He later apologised for the comment as some had felt that his comments glorified or made light of self-harm.
‘I was caught off guard with a question at the end of a press conference last night about a scratch which had appeared on my face and explained that a sharp fingernail had accidentally caused this,’ Guardiola wrote.
‘My answer was in no way intended to make light of the very serious issue of self harm.
‘I know that many people struggle with mental health issues every day, and I would like to take this moment to highlight one of the ways in people can seek help, by calling the Samaritans hotline on 116 123 or emailing [email protected].’
City will face either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the knockout play-offs after earning 11 points in eight games.
Along the way they capitulated at the hands of Sporting CP, Feyenoord, Juventus, and PSG, but wins over Slovan Bratislava, Sparta Prague, and Bruges, as well as draws against Inter Milan and in the Feyenoord game, were enough to see them through.
