Ohio State kick TikTok star Caden Davis off the football team just days before national championship game

An Ohio State football player and social media star has been mysteriously kicked off the Buckeyes roster – just days before the national championship game.

Caden Davis was a walk-on defensive lineman who amassed hundreds of thousands of followers across TikTok and Instagram thanks to behind-the-scenes clips of life on the team.

Davis posted videos from inside the facility, as well as photos from on the field, on the sideline, outside a private jet and even a signed autograph card – despite never playing a snap for the Buckeyes.

The sophomore has been dismissed by the team ahead of Monday’s college football showpiece against Notre Dame.

Precise details of why and when he was kicked off the team remain unclear but he was recently called out by a teammate who commented on a now-deleted post.

‘You don’t play here,’ offensive lineman George Fitzpatrick wrote alongside the video, which appeared to be from Ohio State’s recent trip to face Texas in the Cotton Bowl.

But the footage is reportedly from the Buckeyes’ Cotton Bowl appearance in 2024, rather than January 2025.

The school newspaper, The Lantern, first reported his exit from the team but the Buckeyes were unable to provide a reason. DailyMail.com has contacted Ohio State for comment.

Davis has released a statement on social media, confirming he is off the team and thanking his coaches and fellow players for their support.

‘Being a buckeye has always been a dream come true of mine since being a kid. I am so very appreciative to the coaches, staff, and players for welcoming me into the team,’ he wrote on Instagram.

‘I truly cannot thank them enough for allowing me to live my dream for the last 2 years and mentoring me the way they have.

‘With changes in the NCAA and personal career reasons I will not be a PWO (preferred walk-on) at the OSU. I appreciate the support of everyone and your help to respect my privacy about the decision made. Thank you, Go Bucks.’

The Buckeyes are chasing a first title since 2014 when they take on the Fighting Irish at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Monday.
