Are The 2025 Grammy Awards Postponed? What We Know So Far

The 67th Grammy Awards appear to be in jeopardy as the Los Angeles wildfires continue to devastate the Californian city. Here’s what we know so far about the night of nights for the music industry.

Since last week, California’s Los Angeles has been under a state of emergency as wildfires continue to ravage large parts of the city.

Thousands of buildings have been scorched, and more than 150,000 residents have been forced to evacuate, and the death toll has tragically risen to 16 people.

At the time of writing, CalFire has reported three active fires. However, the largest one — the Palisades Fire — has yet to be contained and there are concerns about high wind speeds that could be detrimental to the efforts of firefighters who are battling the blaze.

Los Angeles is the stomping ground of America’s beloved entertainment industry, and many events including concerts, premieres and award shows have been delayed due to the devastating blaze.

With Hollywood kicking off the 2025 award season with the Golden Globes earlier this month, folks are wondering if the Grammys would be nixed as a result of the fires.

Are the 2025 Grammys going to be postponed?

The night of nights for the music industry is scheduled to take place on February 2 in Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena. However, with the current circumstances of the city, it appears that the annual award show could be postponed.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, “multiple sources” have said that there are “discussions are underway to either postpone the CBS show (and all its ancillary events) or pivot the broadcast to a fundraiser”.

One insider, who claimed to be a senior television executive, told the publication that it’s “highly likely” that the Grammys will be postponed as fires are still active.

The Hollywood Reporter adds that plans for a benefit concert, hosted by the Grammys’ foundation, MusiCares, is set to take place in the lead-up to the awards show’s scheduled date.

Earlier on, Live Nation, the Azoff Family and AEG Presents announced a “FireAid” benefit concert that is set to take place on January 30 in California’s Intuit Dome.

Live Nation’s FireAid will be “dedicated to rebuilding communities devastated by wildfires and supporting efforts to prevent future fire disasters throughout Southern California” with proceeds from the event going towards “rebuilding infrastructure, supporting displaced families, and advancing fire prevention technologies and strategies to ensure LA is better prepared for fire emergencies”.

Broadcast partners, ticket information and performers for the event are still being organised.

At the time of writing, neither the Recording Academy nor CBS — the broadcast partner for the Grammys — have made an announcement regarding the upcoming awards.
