A man has died after being shot by police in south Adelaide early on Tuesday morning.
SA Police said they were called to a home on Highfield Drive, Craigburn Farm, after reports a man was harming himself.
They went into the home to speak to the 40-year-old, but he allegedly threatened officers with a knife, a spokesperson said.
‘Police deployed a taser which was unsuccessful, the man continued to threaten patrols with the knife.
‘Police then discharged their firearms, incapacitating the man. Paramedics worked on the occupant before he was transported to hospital where he sadly died.
‘There were no injuries to police.’
Detectives are at the scene on Tuesday morning, with Highfield Drive closed to traffic, investigating the circumstances of the death.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
